Apple iOS 14.4.2, the latest iOS version for iPhone and iPad, was released at the end of March. Like its predecessor, iOS 14.4.1, this is a single-issue release meant to address specific security vulnerabilities related to WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and third-party browsers on iOS.
According to Apple, iOS 14.4.2 “provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.” The company also stated that users should be aware the “issue may have been actively exploited.”
This new iOS update is available for the following devices
- iPhone 6s and later
- iPad Pro (all models)
- iPad Air 2 and later
- iPad 5th generation and later
- iPad mini 4 and later
- iPod touch (7th generation)
How to update your iPhone or iPad
Updating your device is easy. Under General go to Settings and select Software Update. Then simply download the latest iOS update (14.4.2) and select Install. Your device will restart once the installation is completed.
